Morning Anchor
Anna Donaldson anchors Wake Up Alabama on CBS 42 Monday through Friday from 5:00-7:00am. She also presents the Smart Woman Report, which airs Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during CBS 42 News at 5:00pm and on Wake Up Alabama.
Anna joined CBS 42 in September of 2006. As a reporter, her interviews include 2008 Presidential candidates, such as former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut. She has also interviewed Judge Roy Moore, Norma McCorvey, aka “Jane Roe” of Roe v. Wade, and tennis star Luke Jensen.
Anna is a native of Jasper, Alabama and a graduate of Walker High School. She graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English from Birmingham-Southern College where she was a member of the women’s tennis team. Following graduation, Anna moved to Boston, where she attended Harvard University for two semesters and studied journalism, creative writing, and government.
As a recipient of an International Rotary Scholarship, Anna earned a Master of International Business and Law from the University of Sydney in Australia. Once again, she played on the women’s tennis team. In conjunction with her Masters degree, Anna studied at the East China University of Politics and Law in Shanghai, China.
Anna’s experience in television began in New England. She worked as an intern, news production assistant, and field producer at WCVB (ABC) of Boston, where she was able to cover events such as the 2004 Presidential Election and the Democratic National Convention.
During her time in Australia, Anna worked at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) for the nationally televised show Lateline. Anna contributed to the coverage of the 2005 Bali Bombings and Australian Anti-Terrorism Legislation.
Working for the Sydney Peace Foundation, Anna specifically orchestrated the Sydney Peace Prize events honoring Olara Otunnu of Uganda, former United Nations Special Representative for Children and Armed Conflict.
Anna has studied classical piano for 17 years. Her other hobbies include playing tennis and studying Spanish and Mandarin Chinese.
