How well do you like your job?  Well, if the findings of a survey by career builder.com are to be believed, not all that much.  The survey found that one in three of you, right now, are considering a career change.

So then the question becomes how do you get from where you are to where you want to be?  And luckily, we have someone who made a mid career change and is all the better for it.

Today, Gayle Lantz is a woman, doing the work she loves.  But a little more than a decade ago that was not the case.  Lantz had a high-powered position with a huge financial services company and she was ready to trade it all for a brand new life.

“At the time we had a three year old, were going to have a son, I was traveling so much that I knew I would not see the kids.  I was also at a point where I was just ready for something new," said Lantz.

Michael Lebeau, is the director of career services at UAB's School of Business.  He say's career dissatisfaction at some point in life is actually healthy.

"I think it should come as no surprise that if somebody is considering what they've been doing and considering there progress in their career.  They might say, hey I'm not satisfied after all and I'd like to change," said Lebeau.

A crossroad Lantz found herself in, but one she navigated beautifully.  Today, she's a successful entrepreneur, working with clients like NASA, Microsoft and Red Mountain Bank through her business consulting firm "Work Matters.”

Work Matters
"It's all about revolving around helping people make the most of their work.  That's the name of the company, work matters.  It really reflects my passion wanting to help make a difference with people in the workplace," said Lantz.

And Lantz say's if you find yourself, where she was a decade ago; it all starts with a change in focus.

"It's easy to blame and complain and focus on why things aren't working.  Instead, focus on what they want and when they make that shift, things start moving," said Lantz.

Lantz really is an incredible example on how to get from where you are to where you want to be and she would love to help you if you are looking for a career change.
