For more than two years one Birmingham family has been struggling to hold on to hope.  Nancy Lewis vanished without a trace in May of 2005, and while clues came in quickly at the height of the investigation, things have cooled off dramatically since.

At Dorathy Westry's home, a good football game is cause for celebration.

"She loved football.  We get together and watch football and talk," said Westry.

But for some time now, the conversations and the games don't seem to be as fun as they used to be.

"It's kind of hard for me.  We do as much as we can and watch football.  Every time a game comes on I think about her,” said Westry.

"You couldn't meet a better person, couldn't ask for a better sister.  She'd do what ever or give whatever," said Lewis’ brother Jerry Lewis.

Nancy's family describes her as a loving person, not just as a sister, but as a friend to anyone who needed one.  She’s been missing since May 18, 2005.

"Even though it's been two and a half going on three years, it’s still no easier.  We want answers and we want to know what happened," said Westry.

So do the police, because nearly three years after Nancy’s disappearance, answers remain in short supply.

Nancy worked here at Children’s Hospital and is known for being dependable, so when she failed to show up for work on May 18th, a co-worker decided to give her a call.

"The co-worker said she had a flat and was waiting for her brother to help her.  We've got three brothers right here in Birmingham," said Westry.

"I was supposed to have been one of those brothers, nobody called," said Lewis.

Nancy's vehicle was found a few days later.  All four tires and the spare were intact.

"We know it had been passed around from person to person, but when I think the police narrowed it down to the last person that had the automobile, they didn't get anything out of him,” said Westry.

Since then, Nancy’s family says the case has gotten cold even though it's not technically considered a cold case.

“We're just at a dead end right now.  We're really hoping that the public, somebody out there would just come forward and tell us what they know,” said Westry.

Until then the game will go on, but today, Nancy Lewis' family is celebrating a life.

“She was just, I'm going to say is until we here something definite.  She is a fun and loving person," said Westry.

If you have any information about the whereabouts of Nancy Lewis, you're urged to contact the Birmingham Police Department.
