It's been more than seven years since Debra and Kenneth Hughes last saw their sister Sheila.

Kenneth Hughes says his sister was smart and intelligent, honest, caring.

Debra says, “she was the only sister I had".

Debra smiles as she remembers the good times shared with her sister.

“She was very outgoing. She used to tell me, "You need to get yours and enjoy yourself. Stop acting like an old lady."

Sheila Hughes was last seen on September 1, 2000, a day Debra remembers like it was yesterday.

Debra said, "Her and I were sitting in the doorway.  My kids were out skating. We didn't go to the game, and for some strange reason we were talking about when we were younger, growing up.

Debra goes on to say that through out that day, she had a weird felling that something wasn't right.

"It was like I knew and I felt it, but I couldn't do anything about it"

That feeling grew stronger as she watched her drive off for what would be the last time.

Debra says, "I watched the car until I couldn't see any more tail lights, it' was just like, I knew she was going away never to return, but there was nothing I could do, it's like I was in a state of shock."

Debra never saw her sister again. One month later clothes belonging to Sheila were found along a road in Mississippi. Since then very few leads have surfaced and Debra admits that is hard to remain hopeful, and says

"Our hope is getting kind of thin. I personally don't believe she's alive, there's still hope. Anything with God is possible.

More than seven years after Sheila Hughes' disappearance, hope and memories are all her family has to hang on to.

Debra said, "Dead or alive, we just need to have some closure.
