With the Birmingham mayoral election just a few weeks away, Tuesday night's mayoral forum was a perfect opportunity for candidates to show voters what they're all about.
There’s definitely no shortage of options for voters in this year's Birmingham mayoral race. Ten candidates had a message to get out.
"In Alabama we've been stuck on stupid for so long, until we just can't seem to move from point A to point B," said Larry Langford.
"Birmingham does not need a leader, Birmingham needs a representative, we need someone that's not a politician, we need a statesman, and I'm that person," said Daryl Perry.
CBS 42 teamed-up with The League of Women Voters to host the mayoral forum at Workplay Theatre, giving all the candidates ample opportunity to get their point across.
"We can do better as a community, I think that leadership is lacking, I think traditional politics needs to go away," said Ray Brooks.
"At the end of the day, we're a fresh face, with a fresh approach with a fresh change, Birmingham can be what we want and we don't have to settle for what we have," said Patrick Cooper.
The sold-out crowd, along with viewers on-line and on CBS 42, got a good glimpse of the candidates they might not otherwise have been able to see.
"There's a lot of work to be done, lots of it, that's gonna require wisdom and knowledge. I come before you with both of them," said Willis Hendrix.
And, some that are regulars in front of the camera.
"I look forward to being reelected as mayor to continue the steady progress that we've had, progress that has happened honestly," said Incumbent Mayor Bernard Kincaid.
"My passion and love for this city will bring about a change that all of our citizens will feel that this is moving forward on their behalf," said William Bell.
Birmingham's mayoral election is on Tuesday, October 9th, giving candidates three more weeks to hit the pavement fighting for every vote they can get.
