BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) -- A Jefferson County family loses their home just days before Thanksgiving. A fire leveled the Buchanan's home and now the community is coming together to help.
The fire happened on South Shades Crest Road around 2 a.m. on Sunday. No word on what caused it, but the parents, David and Cindy, and their two young girls, ages 10 and three, made it out okay. Now they are starting the holiday season trying to figure out what's next.
The Buchanan's are active in their church community at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Their church community is rallying around the family to help get them clothing and even raising money.
There's a GoFundMe setup to help them, created by a family friend. Click here.
Also, if you want to drop off donations, you can leave them in the church office at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover.
