BESSEMER, Ala. (WIAT) -- Bessemer detectives have formally charged a man with capital murder who was already in jail for violating Alabama's sex offender notification act, according to a release from the department.
Howard "Bubba" Seay Jr, 48, was charged with the murder of Gloria Harris Parrish, 66, on Jan. 12. Seay is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail since November of 2017 with a bond of $500,000 for violating the sex offender notification act, in addition to awaiting trial on a third-degree robbery charge from Birmingham in 2017.
Officers responded to the 2100 block of Fairfax Avenue on Nov. 14, 2017 to assist the fire department on a call of an unresponsive person. Officers arrived and requested detectives. Officers observed Parrish dead in her bed with multiple stab wounds, and noticed her 2017 Nissan Versa and flat screen TV were missing.
Parrish's vehicle was located in Fairfield a few days later, and persons of interest were questioned, but no formal charges were filed at that time.
