ALICEVILLE, Ala. (WIAT) -- An investigation is underway after an explosion at a facility in West Alabama. One person is recovering after the blast.
A spokesperson says the explosion happened around 9 p.m. Sunday night at Westervelt Renewable Energy in Aliceville.
The facility makes wood pellets to reduce or replace coal at other plants. The explosion started in a piece of machinery used to treat exhaust air.
A heavy equipment operator was taken to Pickens County Medical Center in Carrollton, but is now back at home.
Production at the facility is stopped as the investigation continues.
